Dr. MJ Pickell is a chiropractor passionate about helping runners and active individuals build resilient bodies, recover from injury, and perform at their best. Whether you’re training for your first 5K, chasing a marathon personal best, recovering from an injury, or simply looking to move through life with less pain, her goal is to help you move with confidence through individualized, evidence-informed care.
Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Dr. MJ completed her Bachelor of Kinesiology (Honours) before earning her Doctor of Chiropractic degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Logan University in St. Louis, Missouri.
Dr. MJ‘s treatment philosophy is rooted in identifying the why behind your pain—not simply treating the symptoms. She believes lasting results come from understanding how your body moves, addressing the underlying cause of dysfunction, and creating a plan that supports both recovery and long-term performance.
Her approach combines hands-on care with movement-based rehabilitation and patient education. Depending on your individual needs, treatment may include chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapy, myofascial release, instrument-assisted soft tissue techniques (IASTM), cupping, and personalized rehabilitation exercises. Every treatment plan is tailored to your lifestyle, goals, and the activities that matter most to you.
While Dr. MJ has a special interest in working with runners, she enjoys caring for people from all walks of life. She commonly helps patients recover from headaches and neck pain, back pain, hip, knee, and ankle injuries, overuse injuries, and movement-related aches that make work, exercise, and everyday activities more challenging. Whether your goal is to complete your next race, return to the gym, keep up with your kids, or simply move through your day with greater ease, she is committed to helping you get there.
As a runner herself, Dr. MJ understands the physical and mental demands that come with training. She enjoys working with runners of all experience levels—from those preparing for their first race to seasoned athletes striving for a new personal best. Her care focuses on optimizing movement, improving strength and resilience, reducing injury risk, and helping runners continue doing what they love for years to come.
Dr. MJ believes the best outcomes come from a collaborative approach. She is passionate about educating her patients, empowering them to better understand their bodies, and providing them with the tools and confidence to take an active role in their recovery.
Outside the clinic, you’ll often find her training for races, exploring Vancouver’s trails, strength training, or enjoying a well-earned coffee after a long run.
